England Furniture Reviews Pantone Color of the Year – Marsala

Every year a meeting of representatives from various nations’ color standards groups meet to determine the Pantone Color of the Year. For the year 2015 they’ve chosen the color Marsala. The impactful, full-bodied qualities of Marsala make for an elegant, grounded statement color when used on its own or as a strong accent to many other colors. A naturally robust and earthy wine red, Marsala enriches our minds, bodies and souls, it is equally appealing to men and women, and it encourages color creativity and experimentation. Marsala is dramatic and at the same time grounding/ The rich and full-bodied red-brown Marsala brings color warmth into home interiors.

England Furniture invites you to embrace the 2015 Pantone Color of the Year by reviewing our England Furniture fabrics that highlight the color Marsala. This post is a first in a series of ten posts that will explore Marsala fabrics from England.

England Furniture Reviews 2015 Spring Market in High Point

The month of April brings two things with certainty to High Point, NC – allergens and the International Furniture Market. While we have no control over spring and the former, the latter is ours to define in whatever manner we think best showcases our products.

Response from dealers who visited our Plaza Suites showroom reinforced our prediction that this would be a fantastic market for England Furniture. Our floor was filled with fresh looks, lively colors and a balanced mix of traditional, contemporary and transitional furniture.  Our Top 5 best-selling styles were the 5380 Weaver, 4630 Angie, 2V00 Vespers, 3B00 Paxton and 1Z05 Blayklee.  The top selling motion group was the 3A00 Masters and the favorite leather group was the 2T00AL Loyston. The cover chosen most to dress market purchases was Longhorn Silt, an overall simulated suede-look fabric.

Programs new in April, 2015, include Dorchester Abbey, a step-up leather program featuring select leathers and linens on a limited number of frames, is being offered to qualifying dealers. Work continues on adding Coil Core spring enhancements as an option to motion. Motion styles new at the April market can accommodate the upgrade; older motion styles will be converted as parts become available, our goal being by the end of June.

Also present was the new Sunbrella, a line of indoor, outdoor furniture covered in soft, luxurious Sunbrella, Glen Raven Mill’s fade resistant performance fabric made of acrylic based fiber. Sunbrella was originally designed for patio and sunroom furniture, awnings, marine applications and other areas where the elements play havoc on natural fabrics.

In keeping with our tag line “Furniture durable enough to survive the whole family,” England Furniture “wow’ed” dealers with England Furniture Pet Beds – an upholstered, monogramable bed for pets available in two sizes – small and medium. Now your pet can sleep on its own furniture, perhaps in a cover inspired by your own sofa!

Sales and traffic were both up double-digits in the England Furniture showroom. For the sake of our beloved industry and the men and women who work in it, we hope other showrooms had similar results. Even though the pollen seemed up by double-digits, too – and it rained way more than we thought it should – it turned out to be quite a pleasant market. Many thanks to our England Furniture customers, the England Furniture employees who made it happen, and to our England Furniture dealers for affirming their efforts. Now on to planning for the October Market…

England Furniture’s Plant 6 Achieves 10 Years Mark with No Lost Time Accidents

england-furniture-reviews-plant-06-02
England Furniture’s Plant 6 – our woodcutting facility – attained a significant safety milestone by going 10 years without a time lost accident on June 9, 2014. Given the nature of the work, and the type of equipment used at Plant 6, England Furniture is proud of this significant achievement.

Plant Manager (Jerry Blair), and the England Furniture employees at this plant, deserved recognition of this accomplishment and hearty expressions of appreciation from England Furniture management occurred during the festivities celebrating the accomplishment. Personnel from Plant 6 enjoyed a steak lunch at the Plant 8 cafeteria.  They also received individual monetary rewards, a drawing for additional furniture prizes, and the receipt of a WOW tee-shirt commemorating the date.

Everyone enjoyed a chance to take a break from their daily routine and to get reflect on their next goal: no lost time of 11 years. The target date for that occurrence would occur in three months.  Go Plant 6!  We’re keeping our fingers crossed for you!

England Furniture Reviews Some Furniture Arrangement Tips

england-furniture-arrangement-02BDecorating your home is an art and one that requires careful calculation of both the space’s needs and your individual tastes. When it comes to arranging your furniture there are, however, a few rules to keep in mind. Here are some tricks of their trade.

1. Beds Are the Main Focus
The placement of the bed should acknowledge the focal point of your bedroom. If you have a small bedroom, place the side of the bed against the wall.

2. Newsflash: TVs Are Not the Main Attraction
Don’t ignore the fireplace – or some other item – that is naturally should be the main element in the room. It’s best to hang your TV on the wall to save space. If you do not have that option, use the focal point of your room as a reference point for choosing a spot.

3. Couches Should Be Surrounded with a Little Space
Place your couch a few inches away from the wall. This makes the space seem larger. If you’re working with a big living room, place the couch in the center facing a set of window, fireplace, etc. This makes the big room feel like two separate spaces.

4. Overhead Lights Go Over the Dining Room Table
The best placement for your dining room table is in the center of the room and under a light fixture. If your dining room lighting is slightly off-center get creative. For example, consider creating bench seating against the wall.

5. Dressers Are Not Stand-Alone Pieces
Dressers look best when they are placed up against a wall. Angling a dresser in the corner looks bad, and just as importantly, it wastes space. Center a dresser on a wall, or if placing it off-center, put another piece of furniture next to it to achieve a sense of balance..

England Furniture Awards Sales Reps for their Outstanding Service

England Furniture held their Sales Representative Meeting during the recent 2014 October International Furniture Market in High Point. Several England Furniture representatives were recognized for their performance during the 2014 fiscal year at the event. Some of the many factors that contributed to receiving the England Furniture Sales Awards included measurable criteria such as sales volume, change from the previous reporting period and territory GP. Other factors could including positive work ethic, ability to resolve dealer issues, and other less-definable gauges.

“All our reps deserve some level of recognition,” said Otis Sawyer, President of England, “but, when benchmarks are applied, understandably, the ones with the most impressive stats gravitate to the top.”

England Furniture is fortunate to have an excellent group of women and men who are dedicated to being the professional connection between the England Furniture factory and England Furniture customers. In addition to the terrritory-centered sales awards, England Furniture also identifies the one individual in their sales force who most exemplifies the values held by England Furniture founder, Arnold Dwight England. Called the “Mr. D Award,” award, this prize is arguably the most coveted award presented each October.

On occasion a Trailblazer Award is also presented.  This award acknowledges the efforts of a sales representative who was able to grow in a territory despite challenging circumstances.  This year’s award went to our England Furniture Northern California representative and it recongized her determination in increasing the California market.
